Badamapudi, which is a small village in Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh, about 100 km from Vijayawada, is facing a difficult time in the first week of February after the outbreak of Bird Influenza (Bird Flu). The narrow streets of the village, which were usually filled with farmers taking care of chickens, are now terriblely quiet. A red flag is waved at the entrance of the village, which describes it as the ground zero of the newly declared bio -security sector in the fight against the flu.
